DARK INDIGO AND INDIGO TIE-DYE PUN REVERSIBLE JACKET
The Pun Jacket made its debut at our Pop-Up during Art Basel Hong Kong 2024. It is inspired by and made for our dear friend Ivan Pun, one of the most well-travelled frequent flyers we know on Earth. Ivan prefers to travel without a check-in bag, this means the idea of travelling light, and only with essentials is key. He suggested some changes to the Rirkrit Jacket, including a Mao collar, loosening up the shape and making the jacket fully reversible.
The final version of the Pun Jacket is made with two distinct fabrics for a different feel, on one side, hand-dyed Egyptian Cotton and on the other, hand-dyed lightweight Cotton Oxford. The jacket retains its functional details with its double stitching throughout, a nod to the Rirkrit Jacket but with the shape loosened up. The Mao collar receives a streamlined revision with its curved edge. Two patch pockets on the bottom and one on the left breast in its own fabric adorns the one side with the reverse slit pockets. The all natural seashell buttons are individually hand-dyed in natural plant dyes.
The fabrics are hand-dyed in natural plant dyes by artisans in Sakon Nakhon province in Thailand before being individually cut and sewn in Bangkok in an independent multi-generational atelier.
Two jackets in one, transitional, functional, unisex.
About Indigo Tie-dye and Dark Indigo
Sakon Nakhon indigo is naturally anti-bacterial, and anti-microbial, and provides a cooling effect through UV protection. It is a living and breathing dye. The panels are first tie-dyed in a our Bangkok studio then hand-dyed in indigo in Sakon Nakhon.
Dark Indigo is also made from Sakon Nakhon Indigo but instead of tie-dye the panels are dyed a solid color using a technique which allows the color to be even, to achieve this color the panels are dipped five times in the indigo vat.
Composition: 100% Cotton. Sea shell buttons. 100% Natural Indigo Dye.
The seashell buttons are hand-dyed in ebony berry dye in Pakkhamphu village, Sakon Nakhon. The varying shades depend on the amount of time in the dye.
Handmade in Thailand.
Care Instructions: Machine wash on a cold setting with the same colors, then tumble dry low or hang to dry—iron on low.
This jacket will become your love-worn favorite if you treat it well. As with anything living, it will fade with time, aging gracefully.
