SLATE RIRKRIT WORK JACKET

*NEW ARRIVAL*

Introducing the Rirkrit Jacket. First made for artist Rirkrit Tiravanija, based on an existing and much-loved workwear jacket that he owns. We reworked the jacket in cotton and natural dyes creating a natural and updated version of his jacket.

The jacket is made with a lighter cotton twill and tie-dyed in a lighter blue. Each panel is hand-dyed in Sakon Nakhon Indigo by artisans then individually cut and sewn with reinforced stitches throughout that are functional as well as a tribute to the traditional workwear jacket. Our signature red stitches adorn each jacket on the back.

Composition: 100% Cotton, seashell buttons. 100% Mineral dye: Red Earth mud dye.

Handmade in Thailand

Care Instructions: Machine wash on a cold setting with like colors, tumble dry low, or hang to dry. Iron on low.

About Rirkrit Tiravanija

Rirkrit Tiravanija is a Thai artist based between New York, Berlin, and Chiang Mai. His practice traverses sculpture, film, installation, public and private performances, teaching, and forms of public service and social action. He has routinely overturned traditional exhibition formats to emphasize social interaction, through the sharing of everyday activities such as cooking, eating and reading. As platforms for these activities, he has designed architectural structures and interventions, presented both in gallery and public spaces. Tiravanija’s ability to create environments that reject the primacy of the art object, instead promoting the bringing of people together through simple acts of communal care and the challenging of expectations around labour and virtuosity, has resulted in his recognition as one of the most influential artists of his generation.

Tiravanija lives between New York City, Berlin, and Chiang Mai.

We first started collaborating with Rirkrit in 2016 for The Land Foundation creating a limited edition t-shirt for his fundraiser at Art Basel Hong Kong. We have since worked on aprons, and jackets and cooked together often all over the world. He is a close friend and family to us.
