MOSS ISAN WOVEN SHORTS

In the Northeast of Thailand, weaving and dyeing is a way of life. While the men farm the rice paddies, the women weave unless it is harvesting season when everyone is out in the fields. During the past two decades, indigo dyeing, cotton weaving, and silk weaving have transcended the cottage industry, becoming well-known throughout the world. Today, the grandmas have become the teachers of this art that they pass on to their children and grandchildren.

Isan Woven has been a local significance and heritage for times. The Isan Woven has been part of daily life in Isan for generations. The all-natural textile has a unique texture that breaths and moves elegantly while being resilient and functional.

The Moss Isan Woven Shorts is crafted upon the beauty of Isan Woven with extra details of drawstrings and skull details. Made from 100% artisanal cotton, hand-spun, and handwoven by our Indigo Grandmas in Sakon Nakhon, the Northeast of Thailand.

Moss cotton yarn is hand-dyed with 100% Natural Indigo Dye, then dip-dyed in mango dye. Mango dye is made by boiling the bark or leaves of the Mango tree depending on the season to release a rich yellow color. This keeps consistency throughout the trousers as the yarn is then woven. Every item is uniquely and individually crafted, slight variations in color may occur in the dyeing process.

About Indigo

Sakon Nakhon indigo is naturally anti-bacterial, and anti-microbial, and provides a cooling effect through UV protection. It is a living and breathing dye. 

About Mango

The Mango dye is composed of boiled bark and leaves from the Mango tree. This process releases a rich yellow color.

Materials: 100% Handwoven Cotton; Cotton drawstring with skull detail.

Care Instructions: Hand-wash - gentle, normal temperature. Low steam or iron. Machine wash on a cold setting, then hang to dry. Low steam or iron.
