5-panelled nylon cap screened with SATI in front and hand-embroidered with traditional Hmong motifs on the side.
This is a special cap made by SATI Foundation together with Hmong refugee women.
Each hat is made with 100% Nylon and screened with SATI. On the side there is a hand-stitched panel with an intricate motif by Hmong refugee women in Bangkok, often grandmas and moms. These women with their families are urban refugees in Bangkok having fled Vietnam and sought temporary asylum in Thailand before they are granted asylum in their host country. This period of transit can be many years during which time they are vulnerable. Handicraft can be a source of alternative income for these women and their families.
The motifs on the hats are traditional Hmong motifs, and is called "Roob" or mountains which represents strength.
